I vividly remember the commercial with some person grimacing as they said "guar gum" and as an ice cream aficionado I used to get excited that someone "got it". I loved Breyers but stayed away from it for years to control my weight. My wife has been buying some of it recently and I tried it and noticed it doesn't taste right. I saw gum as an ingredient but figured it was because my wife was buying the mix-in variety. So next time I was at the store I went for the pure vanilla and was horrified to discover that it too had gum in it. You can always tell fake ice cream by the way it melts. It's thick and foamy instead of watery. I found your post because I was doing a search to see if anyone else was disappointed by all this. So that leaves only one true ice cream on the store shelves and that's Hagen Dazs and it's awesome. So someone else has noticed as well.
