Season in full swing
This is the time of year when I really have to force myself to sit down and write. And when I do get to write, it’s usually short (as this one will be). So much is going on! The really wet weather has taken a little bit of a toll on our usually abundunt level of spinach and peas but other than that everything is doing well. We’ve begun harvesting lettuce, spinach, arugula, green onions and radishes with kale not far behind. We’ve gotten all the seedlings in the ground and they all look really good. Now, if I could just keep the goats out of the strawberry plants we’ll be doing alright!We’ve started our first week of CSA deliveries and everyone seems really excited. I missed this morning’s market in Lee’s Summit due to a stomach bug, but look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday. The hens are giving us big, beautiful eggs and we should have pork coming back from the butcher next week. It’s amazing we can keep up with it all but this is what we do … and we love it!
